Gitanjali 44
This is my delight, thus to wait and watch at the wayside where shadowchases light and the rain comes in the wake of the summer.
Messengers, with tidings from unknown skies, greet me and speed alongthe road. My heart is glad within, and the breath of the passing breezeis sweet.
From dawn till dusk I sit here before my door, and I know that of asudden the happy moment will arrive when I shall see.
In the meanwhile I smile and I sing all alone. In the meanwhile the airis filling with the perfume of promise.

About this section
Gitanjali 44 is prose, printed in 4 paragraphs. It is part of the edition and is kept for reading, but nothing here is measured: the line breaks are the printer's, so no metre, rhyme scheme or scansion is stated.
The reader shows the same poem with its rhymes coloured and a stress row above each line, the notes beside their stanzas, and any word's definition on a tap; the analysis page takes the whole book apart. How every part of this site was made.
