The Gardener 57
I plucked your flower, O world!I pressed it to my heart and the thorn pricked. When the day waned and it darkened, I found that the flower hadfaded, but the pain remained.
More flowers will come to you with perfume and pride, O world! But my time for flower-gathering is over, and through the darknight I have not my rose, only the pain remains.

About this section
The Gardener 57 is prose, printed in 2 paragraphs. It is part of the edition and is kept for reading, but nothing here is measured: the line breaks are the printer's, so no metre, rhyme scheme or scansion is stated.
The reader shows the same poem with its rhymes coloured and a stress row above each line, the notes beside their stanzas, and any word's definition on a tap; the analysis page takes the whole book apart. How every part of this site was made.
